SNSD’s ‘Gee’ Becomes First Idol Group MV to Reach 100 Million Views

After setting a huge trend with even babies singing and dancing along, Girls’ Generation reached 100 million views on Youtube for Gee.

As of April 1, 2013, Gee has over 100 million views, after being released in June of 2009.
While Psy still holds the record for most viewed video on Youtube, SNSD has set a new record with Gee being the most viewed video by a Kpop idol group.

Gee became a huge turning point in SNSD’s career as it pushed the group to even greater fame, just as the hallyu wave began spreading globally. Gee took Korea by storm, staying at the top of music charts for nine weeks straight, as well as allowing a countless number of parodies to be born.

‘Gee’ Music Video Hits 100 Million Views on YouTube

“Gee” recently surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. Famous for both Girls’ Generation’s bright and colorful outfits, as well as the simple outfits with white shirts and skinny jeans, this catchy tune with an irresistible hook helped propel the girls to stardom. This latest milestone makes “Gee” the third most viewed K-Pop music video on YouTube, after PSY’s “Gangnam Style” and Hyuna’s “Oppa You’re My Style”.
Released in 2009, “Gee” is now the first Girls’ Generation music video to reach 100 million views. The dance version of “MR. TAXI” has acquired almost 74 million, the Korean version of “The Boys” is at over 70 million, and the Korean version of “Oh!” has garnered nearly 64 million views. “I Got A Boy“, the girls’ latest music video release, is around 200,000 shy of the 50-million-view milestone.
Be sure to (re)watch the iconic 2009 music video below, and congratulate the girls for this latest achievement.

‘I Got A Boy’ Music Video Breaks Record for the K-Pop Video to Hit 10 Million Views the Fastest

‘I Got A Boy’ Music Video Breaks Record for the K-Pop Video to Hit 10 Million Views the Fastest

Girls’ Generation’s music video for “I Got A Boy” has broken the record for the K-Pop video to hit 10 million views on YouTube the fastest, reaching the mark in only 55 hours since release.

Previously, the record was held by Hyuna’s “Ice Cream” music video, which hit 10 million views in 87 hours, followed by Girls’ Generation’s own “The Boys” at 110 hours.

It’s been 14 months since their last comeback, and “I Got A Boy” was hotly anticipated, hitting that 10 million milestone in half the time it took for “The Boys”. “I Got A Boy” is generating plenty of buzz for its wild, colorful style, choreography by the Emmy-winning duo Nappytabs, and roller coaster ride of a song.

Girls’ Generation will continue their comeback performances with “Dancing Queen” and “I Got A Boy” on KBS’s “Music Bank” at 6:00PM KST on January 4th.
