Girls’ Generation to Record for and Appear in Upcoming Radio and Television Shows

As part of promotions for “I Got A Boy”, Girls’ Generation is scheduled to make appearances on and record for several upcoming radio and television shows this week.

On January 14th, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Yuri appeared in a prerecorded segment on KBS CoolFM’s “Gayo Plaza”, a radio show hosted by Kim Bumsoo. The member talked about the “I Got A Boy” album and revealed the songs that they are most attached to out of all their albums. Also on January 14th, Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Yoona appeared on KBS’s “Hello”, a fun program where the members listened to and commented on stories from everyday people invited onto the show. Recorded on January 6th, “Hello” featured a young girl, a woman whose husband made her wear couple outfits for ten years, a teenager whose brother’s friends make a mess whenever they visit but never clean, and a man whose wife refuses to spend new bills. Today, January 15th, Girls’ Generation is scheduled to make several back-to-back appearances on different radio shows, starting with “Boom’s Young Street Radio” on SBS Power FM at 8:00 PM KST. Jessica, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, and Yoona will then appear on MBC FM’s “Younha’s Starry Night Radio” at 10:05 PM KST, and Taeyeon and Tiffany will be special DJs on “Shindong’s Shimshim Tapa Radio” at 12:05 AM. Girls’ Generation will also record an appearance for “Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook” on KBS.

Tomorrow, January 16th, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Yuri are scheduled to be guests on “Yoon Seyoon and Muzie’s ChinChin Radio” on MBC FM4U, while on January 17th, “Happy Together” will air an episode recorded on January 12th with Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Yoona. Also on January 17th, all nine members of Girls’ Generation will record a special episode for SBS’s “Strong Heart”, which will serve as the show’s finale. On January 18th, Girls’ Generation will appear on “Jung Sunhee’s A Night Like Tonight” radio on SBS Power FM at 12 AM.

In addition to these special appearances and recordings, Girls’ Generation will continue promoting “I Got A Boy” throughout the week on music shows, Jessica and Sunny will perform in their musicals, “Legally Blonde” and “Catch Me If You Can”, on January 16th, and Sooyoung will continue her role as an MC on SBS’s “Midnight TV Entertainment”.

Finally, Girls’ Generation will conclude their busy week by traveling to the Philippines to perform in the “Dream KPOP Fantasy Concert“, which will take place on January 19th.

Girls’ Generation tops Taiwan and Singapore music charts

After sweeping local music charts, Girls’ Generation also dominated both Taiwan and Singapore music charts with their latest album, ‘I Got A Boy’!

On January 15th, SM Entertainment revealed that Girls’ Generation’s new album ‘I Got A Boy’ is making a wave on Taiwan, topping the country’s ‘FIVE MUSIC Chart’, ‘G-MUSIC Asia Chart’ and ‘CCR Asia Music Chart’.

The group also ranked #1 in ‘K-Pop TOP 100 Chart’ of KKBOX and ‘Asia Chart’ of HIT FM, which is the most popular radio program in Taiwan.

In addition, the group further proved their global dominance with ‘I Got A Boy’ also topping HMV’s ‘Korean & Japanese Pop Chart’ in Singapore.

Girls’ Generation raises funds for retinitis pigmentosa patients with charity auction

At the start of 2013, Girls’ Generation members ran an auction together with Beautiful Store to help patients diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, an eye disease that causes severe vision impairment and often blindness. This auction was initially proposed by Sooyoung and eventually they raised a total of 5,841,000 Won for the patients.

It started with a campaign named ‘Sooyoung’s wish for lights in the dark world’ (수영과 함께 까만 세상에 빛을 희망해), organised by Beautiful Store, Daum and QTV. Girls’ Generation members then donated their items which were put up for auction on Daum’s site of Hope from December 16th, 2012 to January 5th, 2013.

The auction was meaningful since Sooyoung proposed herself, and all other members participated in support. Sooyoung had always cared for patients who lost their visions and is concerned about their treatment and disease prevention.

This time, Girls’ Generation members donated a total of 17 items that they treasured for the campaign. These include Seohyun’s handbag and clothes, Sooyoung’s watch and bromide photo frame, Sunny’s bag, YoonA’s sunglasses, Tiffany’s watch, Hyoyeon’s shoes and items from other members.

Among these items, Jessica’s shoes (pictured above) were sold for the highest price of 650,000 Won, followed by YoonA’s sunglasses at 609,000 Won, Tiffany’s wristwatch at 600,000 won, YoonA’s fur hat at 540,000 won, and Sooyoung’s wristwatch at 412,000 won. All proceeds will be donated to retinitis pigmentosa patients through Beautiful Store.

On the other hand, the campaign ‘We wish, together with Sooyoung of Girls’ Generation’ will be conducted on Daum’s site of Hope until January 19th.

YoonA performs the ‘cutie player’ on ‘Gag Concert’

YoonA performed the ‘cutie player’ on the January 13th episode of ‘Gag Concert‘.

On the episode, YoonA turned into a stalker that chased around Heo Kyung Hwan. In the segment, Heo Kyung Hwan expressed his frustration that she discovered him again. When she wanted to know why he didn’t like her, he said, “You have no aegyo.”

To this, YoonA replied, “I have so much aegyo!“, and performed the ‘cutie player’ and she wittily changing the original to ”1 plus 1 is cutie. 2 plus 2 is cutie. 3 plus 2 is 500 won!” to match the segment’s catch phrase.

‘Cutie player’ involves the individual reciting, “1+1 is guiyomi (cutie), 2+2 is guiyomi, 3+3 is guiyomi…” and so on, while accompanying their words with cute gestures.

When Kim Ji Min tried to stop YoonA by saying, “Why do you like him?“, YoonA replied, “If you’re curious, give me 4,500 won!“. When asked why, she reasoned that it was because 9 there’s members (in Girls’ Generation).

YoonA confesses she was mistaken for a college student when she was 15

YoonA confessed that she looked old when she was younger.

On the January 14th installment of KBS‘ ‘Hello‘, a woman complained that even though she was 20, people thought she was still in elementary school. When YoonA heard the story, she spoke up and said, “I’m actually the opposite“.

She continued, “When I was in middle school, I was mistaken for a college student. When I was 15, waiters would hand me business cards and invite me to adult clubs. I was scared.”

When Kim Tae Gyun teased, “Did you keep the business cards for a while?“, YoonA laughed and said, “I didn’t“, causing the studio to laugh as well.

Girls’ Generation talks about their bare faces on KBS ‘Hello’!

Girls’ Generation members have revealed their ranking of their faces without make-up (bare faces).

During the recent filming of KBS-2TV talk show ‘Hello’, Girls’ Generation revealed truths about their bare faces.

On that day, the MC asked, “Which member looks most different with and without make-up?” and the members gave their answers while saying “She’s pretty”.

However, Hyoyeon added, “I like my face after make-up”, making the entire studio burst into laughter. Upon hearing Hyoyeon’s unexpected answer, Girls’ Generation started their discussion on the topic of bare faces.

MC Lee Young-Ja said, “We have received information that Sunny looks different with and without make-up.” Sunny answered, “I have 2 modes, one being Girls’ Generation’s Sunny and another being Soonkyu.”

Sunny continued her story, “When the Soonkyu mode is on, my hair is tied backwards and even my members say that I look like a man.” She also revealed that members who live together with her were shocked.

Tiffany continued, “After getting her short haircut, Sunny looks more boyish now.”

This episode of ‘Hello’ will be aired on January 14th, 11.15pm KST.

Girls' Generation wears famous brand outfits in "I Got A Boy" MV

It was revealed that Girls' Generation outfits from "I Got A Boy" MV are from famous brand Burberry.

On January 12th, SM Entertainment revealed that the outfits for Girls' Generation members in the scene shown above in I Got A Boy MV are from Burberry Prorsum 2013 Spring/Summer collection. This is the 1st time the outfits were revealed to the public through an MV.

The members of Girls' Generation previously represented South Korea to attend various activities from Burberry, including the Burberry fashion show in London.

Girls' Generation to have a dance battle with 80s and 90s dancing queens

Girls' Generation Yoona, Yuri and Tiffany will have a dance battle with dancing queens from 80s and 90s on KBS's "Happy Together 3".

A staff of KBS's "Happy Together 3" revealed that Girl's Generation Yoona, Yuri, Tiffany and Hyoyeon went to record the show, the other guests were Baek Ji Young and Kim Wan Sun.

The staff also added,"Really looking forward to the battle between Girl's Generation members with Baek Ji Young and Kim Wan Sun. 80s dancing queen Kim Wan Sun and 90s dancing queen Baek Ji Young, their dancing skills haven't gone yet"

This episode of "Happy Together 3" will be broadcasted on January 17th.
