The yearly rankings by the Sisa Journal for the people who move Korea has been published, and Girls’ Generation has been ranked as the #1 most influential celebrity for the second year in a row.

Girls’ Generation was in first place with 26.2% of the votes, ahead of the nation’s MC Yoo Jaesuk with 21% and Park Jinyoung with 10.1%. Girls’ Generation widened the gap since last year where they were first with 18.2% compared to Yoo Jaesuk’s 14.2%. The worldwide success of “The Boys”, the Girls’ Generation – TTS subunit, Yoona and Yuri’s drama roles, and each of the nine members helped to promote the name “Girls’ Generation” to gain even more recognition within Korea and abroad as the representative of Hallyu. Girls’ Generation was sixth on the list in 2009 and 2010 before taking the top spot in 2011.

Additionally, Mnet released their list of top 100 idol stars, and all nine Girls’ Generation members were represented within the top eleven spots. Mnet’s poll took into account online voting from fans for 30% of the final score and the results from the internationally respected polling company Gallup, which accounted for the remaining 70% of the score.

Girls’ Generation‘s Japanese single “Paparazzi” has been released for sale in Korea on August 16th.

The girls released their fourth Japanese single back on June 27th of this year and claimed the #1 spot on Oricon‘s daily chart a well as Japan’s iTunes daily chart. Having achieved much success in Japan already, the new single has now been revealed to the domestic market for all their fans within Korea.

The single is available in three versions in Korea including a limited edition (CD + DVD), a regular CD + DVD edition, and a CD-only edition. The DVD contains the music video for the single as well as various behind-the-scenes clips.

In related news, Girls’ Generation will be performing alongside their label mates on the 18th for the ‘SMTOWN Live World Tour III in Seoul’.

SNSD’s Jessica and Sunny, f(x)’s Luna and Krystal, and J-Min are all artists under SM Entertainment.They will be participating in the OST for SBS’s new Wednesday and Thursday drama, “To The Beautiful You”, a drama based on Japanese manga series, “For You in Full Blossom”. The drama will begin airing on 15 August. It is a high school romance about the chaotic survival of a girl named Goo Jaehee, which is played by f(x)’s Sulli, who disguises as a male student to meet high jump gold medalist Kang Taejoon, played by SHINee’s Minho, in a boys-only high school.

For the OST, Jessica and Krystal will sing a duet titled “Butterfly”, the love theme song for the male and female lead. The song features a sweet melody with a blend of lyrics that shyly convey a childish and pure first love. As it is the first time the two siblings will officially showcase a duet, a hot response is expected.

“Butterfly” will be released on August 15th at noon on various music sites, including MelOn, Genie, and Bugs. The song will also be included in the first episode of “To The Beautiful You”, which airs on the same day of the OST release.

Girls’ Generation’s Sunny and f(x)’s Luna will also contribute to the OST for “To The Beautiful You” with a duet to be released at a later date.
