SNSD Pop-Up Café Opens on Seoul′s Garosugil

Girls’ Generation (SNSD)’s pop-up café is finally open for business!

Following the announcement that a SNSD-themed café would be opening in Seoul this month, the pop-up café, Girls’ Generation Express, opened its doors to customers on Sinsadong’s Garosugil on February 7.

From coffee shop cakes and confections to SNSD memorabilia, the café is a dream one-stop shop for K-Pop fans. Mamonde cosmetics and Girl de Provence fragrances will also be sold at the store, adding to the girly vibe that is signature to SNSD.

The pop-up café will be running from February 7 to 17, so if you’re in the Seoul area, hurry in for a warm drink, sweet treats and, of course, to stock up on SNSD memorabilia.

Fans Celebrate Sooyoung’s Birthday with a Newspaper Advertisement

In celebration of Sooyoung’s 24th birthday on February 10th, fans wished her a happy birthday through an advertisement in the daily newspaper. Im, a fan who planned the ad, stated, “There is a Japan concert planned on the 10th, the day of her birthday, but I hope they will let her show a great performance after eating tasty Lunar New Year’s rice cake soup.” He complimented her by adding, “Sooyoung is high and clear like the blue sky, so you feel fresh and cheerful just by looking at her.”

There is also a poem in the birthday dedication, which reads:

“Your beautiful and kind eyes
Your bright and big smile
Your clear and kind mind
Your sky angel soul

From beginning to end
Kind and beautiful
With benevolent and holyness
She will embrace us”

Prior to this, Girls’ Generation fans carried out good deeds through volunteer work in light of Sooyoung’s birthday. It took place on January 27th, at the Sin-ne Sanatorium in Joongrang-gu, Seoul.

Sooyoung Chosen as First Muse for DOUBLE-M

Fashion accessory brand DOUBLE-M has chosen Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung as their 2013 Spring/Summer (S/S) season muse. On choosing Sooyoung as their first muse, a DOUBLE-M spokesperson stated, “Our connection came about after the DOUBLE-M item Sooyoung had at Wonder Girls’ Sunye’s wedding sold out. DOUBLE-M’s brand image corresponds well with the image Sooyoung has, who has joined the line of next generation of fashionistas.”

In the “New DOUBLE-M Look” advertisement for the new 2013 S/S season, Sooyoung shows off a cheerful appearance modeling DOUBLE-M products. The “Louis line”, recently shown off by Sooyoung at the airport, will be available at DOUBLE-M stores across Korea, beginning February 8th. Advertisements and behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot will be available through DOUBLE-M’s homepage and official Facebook page.

Girls' Generation ‘I Got A Boy’ Places First on Gaon Monthly Album Chart

Girls’ Generation’s “I Got A Boy” album came in first on Gaon’s monthly album chart for January 2013. According to the chart, “I Got A Boy” sold 265,322 copies in its first month since release. The girls placed ahead of Kim Jaejoong and CNBLUE, who were the second and third place artists, respectively.

“I Got A Boy” also topped the Hanteo monthly chart for January, selling over 100,000 copies since the girls’ New Year’s Day comeback, when the album received an all-kill, ranking first on popular Korean digital music charts including MelOn, Bugs!, Daum, and Naver. “I Got A Boy” remains in the top six for Hanteo’s daily sales through the first week of February, showing Girls’ Generation’s continued success with their latest Korean release.
