2YOON reveal they were encouraged by Girls’ Generation’s compliments
2YOON recently sat down for an interview and revealed their thoughts on their debut as well as the compliments they received from Girls’ Generation.
2YOON shared, “We were very happy when the Girls’ Generation sunbaenims complimented us a lot. Girls’ Generation sunbaenims said, ‘The song and dance are good, and the style and overall concept were well-thought-out,’ and showed their support. Not only the title track, but they also specifically mentioned track 4, ‘Se Se Se‘, on the album and discussed it with us. After hearing that, we were even more touched. Through Girls’ Generation’s compliments, we gained more strength for our activities.”
“Since the two of us are the vocal line of 4minute, there were many opportunities for us to sing together during concerts and radio programs, and we thought that at this time, it would be a good idea to release an album together. We asked our agency first if we could release an album. After our agency listened to our plans, they said, ‘Make something good,’ so we directly participated in the album jacket, style, and album production.”
“All of the 4minute members like it more when we work than when we rest. We would like to continue our album promotions longer and make 2YOON’s music and style widely known.”
2YOON recently made their debut with title track “24/7” off their album ‘Harvest Moon‘. The duo have been receiving attention as the first K-pop artists to attempt the country pop dance genre.

Main interview
The first time Vogue Japan had a shooting with SNSD was in April 2011. Appearing in that year’s issue in July, SNSD's approached us with warm smiles, even though the shooting took place in the poolside in chilly Seoul.
And after almost 1 year and a half we meet again in Tokyo. The members standing in front of the camera shine differently than previous time; I could feel the confidence and composure.
During this year they achieved first spot in the Oricon Weekly Chart for the first time and they received the million seller certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). It is also most likely they still have a feeling of having accomplishments left [to achieve].
To continue that million seller achievement done with “Girls’ Generation”, they released a second album “Girls’ Generation II: Girls & Peace”. Suitable global creators were also involved for the girls who are not only active in Asia. Miles Walker, the Grammy Awards winner, who produced Usher and Beyonce’s hit songs, is in charge of mixing the singles “Paparazzi” and “Flower Power.”
On the other hand, it was also an active year with live performances in Europe and America. Starting from Asia, including Japan, they also performed in the SMTOWN LIVE concerts in LA, NY, Paris, and more, together with artists like DBSK and Super Junior, who belong to the same company as them. Furthermore, SNSD’s live appearance on the popular American talk shows “The Late Night Show with David Letterman” and “Live! With Kelly” became a hot topic.
Adopted by a great number of American media, they were also largely introduced in the high class literary magazine “The New Yorker”, a same publisher as Vogue. The most interesting above all is the usage of the word ‘eye smile’ when explaining SNSD’s charms. In other words, when they are on stage, they smile at thousands of people, but for the fans they fall into an optical illusion where they think SNSD only looks and smiles at them. This is SNSD’s magic. From the point of view of mainstream Americans with a uniform ‘Hollywood smile’, a wide while showing their teeth, wouldn’t SNSD’s kindness emitting smile be displayed as fresh?
That’s why Vogue Japan requested to photograph SNSD’s smiles this time. For the first cut they had sweet smiles, and the second was cool. We also questioned them about ideal smiles.
We heard in advance from staff that the members had a tightly worked out schedule from early in morning on the same day, so when the girls appeared at the studio in Aoyama, Tokyo late at night we worried a bit if their energy would last till the end of our photoshoot.
But when they all lined up in front of the camera, Tiffany first asked in Japanese, “Can you turn on some music that will bring us in the mood?” The studio got engulfed by an explosive beat and while Hyoyeon was making the members laugh by dancing, Yoona imitated models walking on the runway, making everybody laugh non-stop. It’s the privilege of former youth, but by doing that our mood also went up and while laughing naturally the photoshoot ended without any problems.
Afterwards when asking about smiles, the most often reply was, “When we enjoy ourselves, the person watching will also feel it as well.” The members emphasized in one voice, “It’s the same with performances on stage” (Yoona) and “I believe you can naturally transmit your passion.” (Yuri)
Only their answers about their ideal smiles were different. While Hyoyeon said, “Laugh while showing your teeth,” Sooyoung said, “Don’t show your teeth.” Sunny answered, “Laugh so your eyes disappear,” and Tiffany added, “Make your eyes disappear and show your teeth a lot.” Seohyun said, “Whatever the smile what’s in one’s heart is more important,” and Taeyeon declared, “Anyway, a big smile.”
When looking at the smiles of great individuals of SNSD, we also start smiling. That is SNSD’s magic; you can’t take your eyes off of them.

During his recent appearance on the FM radio broadcast, he was asked the question, “Do you have any plans to film ‘We Got Married‘? Who do you want to film it with?”
“I think ‘We Got Married’ will be fun, especially since I’m not married yet,” Moon Hee Jun answered. The radio host then asked, “Don’t pick a specific person, but what age range are you thinking of?”
Moon Hee Jun ignored the host’s suggestion, however, going straight for the jugular. “I want to do it with Taeyeon,” he answered, quickly following up with, “It’s fake, it’s variety.”
He then explained his choice, saying, “Girl’s Generation are all wonderful hoobaes and they’re all pretty, but my ideal type is someone who is cute and Taeyeon looks like a doll. YoonA of course looks like a Barbie doll too, but Taeyeon is a bit of a smaller doll.”

This episode will feature comedian Park Myungsoo, who practiced DJ-ing for two weeks, against a DJ of the best club in Gangnam with 14 years of experience. Hyoyeon showed off her image as Girls’ Generation’s dancing queen by dancing along impressively with the DJ’s music.
Comedian Boom asked Hyoyeon, “Does Girls’ Generation also go to clubs?”
She answered honestly, “I am very carefree. When I get stressed, I quietly go to clubs.” Hyoyeon also gave her own opinion about clubs, saying, “In a club, the role of the DJ is most important. I don’t feel like dancing if the music is bad.”
Hyoyeon’s appearance on “Blind Test 180°” will air on January 29th at 8:50 PM.

[REVIEW] Girls' Generation 4th Album - I Got A Boy
Happy 2013 SONEs!
I believe everyone started their new year with the release of Girls' Generation's 4th Album - I Got A Boy and also the music video of "I Got A Boy" itself.
This time around, they switched styles to hip-hop and many have wondered if they could pull it off. Guess what, they nailed it!
This new image of theirs did not only prove that they are brave to make a change, but also good enough to actually succeed. Girls' Generation have matured in many aspects and they have brought us a whole new sense of music.
I got my albums a little late since there was a delay in shipment, hence the late review.
But no worries! Here I am now, about to review the album with the group cover.
This is how it looks like:

I got my albums a little late since there was a delay in shipment, hence the late review.
But no worries! Here I am now, about to review the album with the group cover.
This is how it looks like:
Group cover.
Without the acrylic casing.
The CD at the back.
The case, box and the photobook.
A peep of the photobook.
The packaging is simple, honestly.
The downside to this is when you take the box out, then you try to slide it in again, the edge of the acrylic case might scrape the sides of the box.
Because it's made up of paper-like material, the color will be scraped off. Some tighter cases might scrape off more.
Otherwise, it is all good.
Even the size makes us feel good when we hold it.
I have to say though, there is really nothing too complicated about the packaging except that this time, they have 10 kinds of covers.
And now, we will look at the songs in this album.
This album has only 3 ballads but it's enough. More and we will all melt, maybe, as if we haven't melted enough.
I think all of the songs are really good, and it's a whole new feeling to what we know about Girls' Generation.
Of course, their skills are always present.
I Got A Boy- "Eh?", that's my first listen. My brain couldn't understand the song until I knew what it meant. Then I find it really good and addicting, the rap, chorus, everything. There is a peak to every part of the song and this is a very different song from what our girls have tried before. It's hard to register at first but it sticks after listening to it many times.
Dancing Queen- Remake of Duffy's "Mercy". Back to 2008, the Gee era. I would like to think that this song is dedicated to Hyoyeon. It has a different feeling to the original "Mercy".
Baby Maybe- This is a very sweet song. Written by our very own Yuri, Sooyoung and Seohyun. Easy to sing along to (Put your hands up if you feel like this!). One part though, is very very very finger-curling- Sooyoung's "my boo, na ye jagiya *Jagiya~*. I can't help but smile and go "awwww" everytime that comes on.
Talk To Me- Basically this is the Korean version of "Boomerang" from Girls&Peace album. No more "boom boom loving you" but "let's talk talk about, talk talk about it boy". Let's talk to them, SONEs.
Promise- First ballad of the album. It feels like it's about how they probably feel when they get off the stage. When they feel tired, when they think about normal lives, and maybe, when they think about SONEs and loved ones during times of weariness. Their voices are emotional and the vocals are really good. Breaks my heart every time I listen to this song.
Express 999- An upbeat song. Falling in love and being curious about someone is like getting onto an express, said our girls. The verse and chorus sounds slightly different from other similar songs as the music is somewhat different, but they actually glue! The bridge part with Taeyeon's vocals is always something nice to listen to.
Lost In Love- Second ballad of the album and it is by Taeyeon and Tiffany. About hanging on to love even if it hurts. Their voices are really good and the lower voices during the verses are great. The chorus is projected quite powerfully as the song progresses and the ending is undeniably fantastic. Their vocals just melt into each other perfectly.
Look At Me- The rap is cool. Very cool. An upbeat and fast song. Even the chorus is too fast for me to catch up. But hey, "You look at me, I look at you", at least I got that. I really hope to hear this song live one day.
XYZ- Written by Yuri and Seohyun. It's a song about ending a relationship, saying that XYZ is the end of ABC. And still, they are strong enough to move on and take on reality. The beat is nice to follow to. I really like the way they sang in this song although there is nothing much complex.
Romantic St.- This song is full of love. It gives me a feeling as though the girl in this love story is a shy girl trying to confess through this song. The light-beat music makes it all the more sweeter. Imagine a girl trying to hold pinkies with the boy he likes on a dimly lighted street. Yes, keep that picture in your mind.
Well, that is probably less than half of what I can explain about how I feel about the songs in this albums.
We have waited long enough for this album and they have delivered an awesome and fresh one to us.
Many new sounds, voices and positive changes are obvious in this album.
Personally, I think it is a breakthrough and new standards have been set.
That's all I have for you today!
I hope you SONEs have enjoyed my review so far.
Let's continue supporting them by listening to their music!
Thank you and signing off.
Happy 2013!
