[NEWS] SM Entertainment cleared of accusations of colluding with music distributors

SM Entertainment has been cleared of the accusations regarding colluding with music distributors.

On August 16th KST, the Seoul High Court revealed their verdict on the issue: “The FTC (Fair Trade Commission) has canceled all corrective orders against SM Entertainment, and the lawsuit costs will be paid by the defendant.” As a result, suspicions about SM Entertainment bargaining with music distributors have been found to be false.

The FTC previously determined that SM Entertainment had colluded with distributors to fix prices, and issued a corrective order requiring the agency to pay a fine. However, SM Entertainment filed a countersuit against FTC in July requesting them to rescind the order as well as the fine against the company. SM has now won its case and has been freed of the accusations.

Shin Sekyung: “I recently drank with Yuri unnie.”

On August 16th, Shin Sekyung, who played Lee Gayoung in “Fashion King”, appeared on an episode of “Taxi”, where she was asked about drinking alcohol and revealed, “I recently drank with Yuri unnie.”

Shin Sekyung continued, explaining her friendship with Girls’ Generation’s Yuri by saying, “There are nerve wars between actresses. As she was a Girls’ Generation member, nerve wars had to be there.”

However, despite the nerve wars, the two became friends. The popular actress stated, “Because she’s so nice and laid back, we got close. But we haven’t been able to meet up because of schedules.”

During her appearance on “Taxi”, Shin Sekyung also discussed watching the final episode of “Fashion King” with the actors and staff of the drama. She said, “The actors and staff all watched the last episode together, and we were all weeping. Because all the staff was there, we also sang and danced outside. I found unnie (Translator’s note: Shin Sekyung is referring to Yuri) outside too. She went outside after crying, but she was dancing like crazy. She sang ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ and ‘Gee’. I copied her from the side too.”

“Fashion King”, Yuri’s first drama as a lead role, finished airing in May of this year.
